Some may be dealing with general anxiety when it comes to their day to day work, and others may be experiencing social anxiety in their work environment. Both of which should be addressed. However, individuals may be trying to cope with more severe work related anxiety due to being a victim of workplace bullying or harassment.
This adds additional layers of stress in the workplace and can be extremely unhealthy, painful and may even result in severe negative implications. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing harassment or bullying at work, please seek support. These issues are detrimental to your wellbeing and should be addressed before it is too late.
How to deal with workplace bullying and harassment:
- Speak up & report it: Talk to someone that you trust, and surface this issue to your manager, boss or a Human Resources Representative for guidance right away.
- Know your rights: Educate yourself on your company’s workplace policy regarding bullying and harassment.
- Document: Keep private records with details regarding the incidents.
- Create distance from the perpetrator(s): Try to avoid these negative people to help prevent any harassment in the immediate future.
- Seek additional support: Consider other options to protect yourself, such as legal advice and/or mental health support from a therapist
